I thought it was pretty funny but I found it falling a little victim to the basic reality syndrome, "Let’s do something really strange and tape reactions".
The part that was impressive is they were able to make a cohesive story out of it from prank to prank. I thought it was good but not great. Also I think having seen a lot of the Borat skits from back when took away from the impact. I think I’ll never ever watch this movie as I doubt it’ll be funny as second time.
The fact they worked in a bit of a socio-political statement about the ludicrous nature of racism and general ignorance people have about others impressed me. However I often wonder with recent trend of racial differences if people laugh because the racism is so ridiculous or if they’re just racist and finding those mocking by playing the part funny for that reason. Everyone would cling to A but I get the sinking feeling that B is just as true.
In the end, everyone should see it just for Sacha’s commitment to Borat, the hotel scene made the movie.
And for the love of god, please don’t go around saying "It very nice" or "Hi Five"
