My roomate decided for his GF he’d remake a song. Of course this meant involving me so…. here’s the finished product. I never want to hear this song again. I thought about making my own complete remix either with cheesy synths and/or strings but that was before hearing this several hundred times in the past few days.

Vocals/Guitar - Brian Mauer
Piano - Matt Cornelius
Drums/Bass/Piano correction/Mastering and everything else - Me

For anyone who cares. Software/hardware - My aging Dually 2 GHz G5 with too little ram (3.5 GB)
Cubase SL3, Fender Strat, Rode NT1, shitty M-Audio Radium, Guitar Rig (distortion/amp modeler), Ivory (Best god damn Piano lib ever made), BFD + XLF add-on (Damn convincing drums), Hardcore Bass (Bass guitar lib), PSP Vintage Warmer (great compressor with gay name) , Master Verb (Reverb), Ozone (used for stereo imaging.

Ask me, there’s a few minor issues but I let Brian have final say, his song and I didn’t point any out. I wanted to be done.

Feedback is appreciated. One day I’ll get to finishing a few songs of my own floating around on my HD. I’m much better than the shit I used to make, my production skills are good and I actually got the Mic skills refined.

It’s OK. Not incredibly bad. But as an advocate for leaving songs of the past in their original un-remixed state (because frankly the original artist sings it better), I would have to say I can whole-heartedly agree with why you’d never want to hear it again.  shock

The original of this song is hardly a classic either.

ANd the version that Matt and Brian like that only has this horrid recording of a so-so live performance

So Brian wanted to remake that version and added his own twist. If nothing else, it showcases my ability to master a track on short notice to someone else’s terms and Brian is decent vocalist.
