I guess I am in the minority here. I was supremely dissapointed by 300.

As yellow#5 said above, the script could have been “written by a single monkey at a typewritter”, and a stupid one at that. The dialogue was embarrassingly laughable and after the 1000th time hearing “FOR SPARTA” I wished one of those damn warriors had speared ME in the ears.

——————————

Scene #1: Someone yells “FOR SPARTA!”;

Scene #2: Beautiful but ultimately empty battle scene;

Scene #3: Heavy handed speech ineffectively trying to justify why “Spartans never give up.”;

Repeat to fill 2 hours….

——————————

I can’t say I really hated the movie. It was just so damn vacant.

I’ve heard mixed things about 300. I’m not an action fan so I haven’t seen it. Call me strange but watching stone chiseled jawed men, with their shirts off flex in front of a camera just doesn’t do it for me.

What were you expecting? A massive epic drama with drawn out emotional dialogue?

Fuck no, I expected people getting cut up and I was pleased.

Apparently a lot of the lines are taken from original sources. So, yeah, blame herodotus.

I completely respect someone who isn’t into something because it’s intellectually vapid. Often I don’t like things for that reason. 300 wasn’t one of those instances for me, but I can certainly see how someone could not enjoy it.

Amen! Sometimes the best movies are the movies which require no thought and they deliver exactly what people want.

On the tibit of gay, I guess my friend read the Frank Miller Graphic Nov…. fuck it, its a comic. Anyway, the comic has a ton of male nudity.

I just hope Frank Miller just doesn’t delve into any Roman empire stories, I can only imagine him getting off to incestuous relationships in graphic detail.

There’s a ton of nudity of both genders in the graphic novel. And I didn’t notice more male nudity than female nudity.
