These tests are always remarkably all over the place…. Addendum to Wes, various network hardware equally important for these tests. My G5, being clearly superior in performance to my HTPC. Each computer is equipped with Gigabit Enet, sufficient ram and direct connected to the switch with DHCP handing out assigned IPs by MAC addy. The Mac was tested via Safari v 2.0.4 and Firefox 2.0.0.9 , the PC was tested in FireFox 2.0.0.9.

Also comcast has some real fuckery to their system, I can get burst uploads of 100k a second that’ll last for about a minute or so (regardless if BT is running or not) then a cap is enforced and my entire upstream is about 40k a sec. Any single download generally will cap at 400K, but I can have 3 torrents downloading at individually 300K a sec for a whoppin’ 900k a sec sustained.
