I played through “Bring Down The Sky” DLC yesterday. I’d give it a solid two or weak three star rating out of five (two stars means “OK” and three “Good”, in most Swedish ratings).

As you probably figured by now, I’m not exactly overwhelmed. It was a nice 90 minute playthrough, and I certainly don’t regret buying it. But I guess I expected a little bit more. Something more story-driven, and perhaps at least half the size of Feros.

Now what we get is a small fragment of the human-batarian conflict, which is interesting and could have been developed further within these 90 something minutes. Instead you pretty much spend all the non-fighting time in the Rover driving between locations on the asteroid.

Oh, well… that’s just my five bucks. Anybody else played it yet?

I bought it without reading about it… Apparently since my last save was at the end of the game I need to play up to the point in a new game to where I get a ship. Honestly, I can’t bring myself to do it and I read it was much too short. I honestly wish I didn’t spend the $5 as I really don’t feel like replaying the game just access 90 minutes worth of mission.

Your comments echo pretty much everything I read… there’s not much meat to the new addition, no real story and far too short.  If the new add ons are going to be more of the generic barren lifeless space, with the same bunker you’ve explored countless times I probably won’t buy anything else. I recall Oblivion having a few add ons, the I heard first was kinda lame but later they added ones that people seemed to like including one that added a new sub continent complete with its own villain story. Hopefully Mass Effect gets something to this…. effect, and that Bring Down the Sky is just a proof of concept.

That late game save thing is pretty lame. I kind of wish they set it as a post-game thing, like a post script or mini follow up story that you could tackle is uber-bad ass Shepherd.

I was lucky enough to be just before Virmire on a second playthrough, so I had no problems getting to the asteroid from that save. The mission is one of the best side quests… but not more than that. It wasn’t expensive, but it still feels like it could have added another quest as well to really be worth it.

Here at the Disciples of Bork we’re all equals…
...it’s just that a few of us are more equal than the rest of you.

And I’m the most equal of all.

Considering the massive downloadable modules they put out for Neverwinter Nights for around the same price, seems kind of lame for them to put out such a small downloadable quest.
