Well, to make the update complete.. I need to add TV shows and movies to the fray… so what are you currently watching, what shows actually keeps you glued to the screen?

For us it’s currently:

Heroes Season 1 (DVD)
Red Dwarf Season VII (DVD)

Red dwarf kicks so much butt still after all these years. We now have the complete collection of all 8 seasons. It’s just a shame all seasons are so damn short.

I’ve been watching Carnival. I thought it was just about carnies. Turns out it’s about some earthly struggle between good and evil, and is really smartly written. I just finished season 1, and should be starting to receive season 2 any day now.

I just picked up the new Futurama DVD movie, The Beast with a Billion Backs. I was not too impressed.

On TV I mostly watch Family Guy, Dr Who, Primeval, Torchwood, and the usual round of historical stuff….

We’re currently on season 3 of Battlestar Galactica. After that we’ll see what’s next.

I’m going through Futurama again, but more importantly I’m watching The Wire for the first time. I’m at season 4 now, and I’m entirely smitten. I’ve never been all too fond of cop shows, certainly not the drudgery that is CSI and its ilk, but The Wire is so well put together and smart that it’s impossible not to get sucked in. It’s a shame the average TV viewer is a mouthbreathing bigot, or they’d might still be making what has to be one of the best TV shows for the last 20+ years. It’s intelligent, realistic, witty and relevant. Recommended to anyone with an attention span over 23 minutes.

Really though, all your rambling about it recently has made me want to check it out, especially since the only TV I watch is Top Gear. I need something else to fill in the time between supercars.

You should check out Generation Kill ebbe, it’s a mini series on Iraq written by the same guy - it’s based on a book a rolling stones reporter wrote when he joined the marines in the first wave assaults on Baghdad. really honest, true to life stuff like the wire.

whaleman - Season 3 is where BSG started to lose itself in my opinion (first two seasons rocked) , it became pretty evident after season 2 they didn’t know where they were going at all. Just started watching Caprica which is a prequel to BSG set half a century before the Cylon attack, has some good ideas, but i’m skeptical about it after BSG.

in terms of films, best of the recent batch at the cinema would have to be Moon, A Serious Man and Avatar. Also went to see Up In the Air, didn’t really get all of the hype around it, wasn’t funny either.

Just watched the final episode of Star Trek: Enterprise, and only have a few left of the original Star Trek series. Enterprise wasn’t as bad as some people made it sound like, besides a horrible intro song and a few really crappy episodes, we really enjoyed it.

Next up is Depp Space Nine…. then we’re through all non-animated Star Trek….
