As of wednesday, Europe will finally have a full featured PS3! That is… if you paid $1600 the release 60GB console so you have backwards compatibility as well. But at least we can get RUMBLE now! The future is finally here! HOORAY!!!!

But as soon as the consoles comes bundled with the DS3, my biggest block for getting one goes away. I just wish they’d reintroduce a BC console as well… preferably with a 250GB HD so I didn’t have to switch it right away.

Yeah… but Sony is still charging unstatistically much for this. Most electronic products are one € per $, which in itself is about a 60% higher price with the current currency standings… yet Sony wants €1.20 per $ for the DS3, brigning the difference up to 90%... and it seems like the Swedish retail is supposed to take even more. Instead of the SEK10 per Euro (which adds about 6% to the European price) that is a standard everybody but Sony follows (already taking SEK11.25 per € for the PS3, putting it at 19% over the rest of Europe) the local Game claims a SEK649 retail price for the DS3 (SEK11 per €) and the local EB said SEK699 (SEK11.85 per €) which is about half the price of a PSP or DS here, and directly converted to $116… for a fucking controller.

The only thing that saves them is that the “serious” low price retailers (unlike EB who I wouldn’t trust to sell me a glass of water) refuse to take these kind of money (just as they do for the main console) and put themselves at SEK549, or SEK9.30 per €. The standard pricing is still major buttfuckery even without comparing the low dollar though. Especially when Microsoft of all people sells their Xboxes at €0.82 (and SEK8.20) per $. That makes Sony charge relatively 37% more off the bat for their consoles, and relatively 65% more for their controller.

yet despite this, Europe is still Sony’s strongest region and they treat it like piss… and I’m still getting one as well. *sigh*

You could stick it to Sony by not buying their stuff. I’m doing just fine with my 360 wink

I think you just nailed why Sony’s Scandinavian prices are what they are, bro…

Well, I kind of want a Blu-Ray player to go with my HD projector… and I also want some of the games for the PS3, so compared to just buying a Blu-Ray player equivalent to the PS3, it’s not that expensive…. compared to the whole fucking rest of the world (well, besides Australia and NZ, they’re pretty screwed by Sony as well pricewise) it is.

*sigh*

Also, if I would stick it to people for messing with my plans, I’d stop buying games for the Xbox too since they’re getting annoying on paying for timed exclusives…

...but for that last part… I think I might actually get Rock Band II for the PS3 if it’s true MS paid to get the PS3 version delayed.

I waited for Sony to fix my largest gripes before getting the console… once it actually ships with a controller I want, all I could ask for is a lower price and backwards compatibility. Seeing how they actually make their online interface useful come tomorrow as well, the PS3 is starting to shape up.

Still bitching is mandatory, this is the internet after all!

But still, do you always have to have such long thread titles?

Sorry, I’ll try to make them even longer in the future. It’s fun to break the layout before actually posting wink

The odd thing is that most of these long topic titles are from after we started playing WoW occasionally again wink

The reason they charge you so much more in Europe is because you buy the crap they charge you insane prices for.

Another reason could be that it’s more expensive to drive a company here since we don’t have so low minimum wages that our poverty rate is 3 times higher than our unemployment rate wink

...which of course also would lead to a stronger capital to the lower income brackets to buy their crap from.

I had to research this and god dammit, its true…

“US poverty rates are higher and living standards are lower than for those at the bottom of comparable economies. Moreover, income mobility appears to be lower in the US than in other OECD countries.”

“The US had the highest overall poverty rate (17.0%) of the 17 OECD countries where data was available. Australia (14.3%), Italy (12.7%), the United Kingdom (12.5%),  and Ireland (12.3%) had the next highest poverty rates after the US.  “

Ttotal poverty: US, 17%,  Sweden, 6.5%
CHild poverty: US, 21.9%, Sweden, 4.2%,

OH YEAH! TAKE THAT JOHAN, WE WIN AT POVERTY! OUR CEOS MAKE MORE HERE THAN ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD BY A LONG SHOT.
