Anyone read the novels by Lukyanenko that these movies are based on?  I must admit my intrigue.

When I think Nightwatch, I think the god awful US adaptation of one of the most important movies in modern Danish movie history - which also happened to be horror-suspense.

Dunno, I’ve never been into horror, doubt I ever will.

The horror genre is almost exclusively dominated by weird masochists and 13 year old girls.

And British people. Curse them!

Cool trailer!

Now what was that about Brits?

Oh you mean like all the old Hammer Horror stuff?

Or Clive Barker?

Clive Barker Pwns J00!

He is my absolute favorite author. I love his short stories in The Books of Blood. and Imajica. that was really good too.

In terms of movies. I really liked the Hellraiser series, even if he only was part of the first one… not sure about the second or third. I know he wasnt part of the rest though.

Indeed, Weaveworld, and pretty much everything he has written totally rocks…

Even the ‘kids’ book, The Thief of Always is a damn fine read for grown-ups :D 8)

In the sense that it could fuck a kid up, it was a kid’s book.

Like the new Bob the Builder title, Bob and the runaway wood chipper.

Whoa, I totally remember reading thief of always. That was one about the kid who goes to the guy’s house as an escape but when he’s there time passes really fast and kids turn into fish if they stay too long? Man, that’s some oldschool stuff

Pfft. Like that would bother your little monster. Compared to him, Bob might as well grow white petals and plant himself in the ground next to all the other daisies. Griffin would rip any runaway wood chipper to freaking shreds.

Being somewhat of an aficionado on all things horror I too have to admit my intrigue although I will not hold my breath that this film will be any good. I will definitely have to check out the books at some point.

I really like Barker as well but I am not much into his fantasy or horror-fantasy style of novels. I prefer most of his older works that are straight up horror like Books of Blood, Damnation Game, ect.

If you want to read an amazing novel that would fuck up any kid read the classic Ray Bradbury tale “Something Wicked This Way Comes”. One of the true American masterpieces.

Matheson is still the reigning champion of horror in my honest opinion.
