Here’s the movie trailer to that fan produced movie. Sadly the SFX look as good as a Sci-Fi TV show. To quote Walt, “acting though could be a lot better.. and that’s pretty sad to see that from just the trailer”. http://panicstruckpro.com/revelations/video/web_trailer_II_larger.mov
Fanfilms are getting too long, I’d rather have a tightly produced short than spreading resources thin over a half-baked hour-long feature. Without an insanely hot female lead there’s no way I won’t lose interest long before even halfway through.
Yeah, the thing with that trailer is, it just kept digging itself into a deeper hole. At first, the ships and stuff looked cool, but then people started talking, and then you see thing explode (which were horrible), then it comes to the end, where it’s really not enticing at all.
I just watched the full thing… I can’t really say what was the worst waste, the 45 minutes I spent watching it, or the three years they spent making it.
But the computer effects look extremely good. Just a shame they couldn’t reach the same level of acting.
To quote Scott Billups - the most outspoken cinematographer in the world - “the more money spent on technology, the less spent on quality of the content”
Obviously paid through the nose on the SFX and couldn’t afford decent actors. I mean from what I can see some of them arne’t *that* bad but a dark jedi with a lisp, that practically spits every word… ugh. Thier special effects crew will go far, though.
In spite of the new Star Wars movie just around the corner and the spotlight on this sub-par acting fan-made movie (the acting really does reek!), I hereby call an emergency return of the Stormtrooper avatar.
May he cast a blessing of protection on us all.

After this topic was created I went on a fanfilm downloading spree. As expected, most were mediocre or worse. There was however a single one which actually impressed me a lot; Grayson. Unlike most fanfilms it is not Star Wars related but a trailer for a (non-existant) movie about an aging Dick Grayson a.k.a. Robin, Batman’s sidekick. Also be sure not to miss the behind-the-scenes video (“Pieces of the Puzzle”), I found it both interesting and a lot of fun.

Damn that was a good way to spend some modelling time….
I just wonder how long the full movie would become if they had to fit all those shots into the story

Now that was pretty awesome, and not just because I’ve been getting into DC comics in a big way lately. The production is really impressive and the premise isn’t completely rediculous. Only weird bit is that Dick Grayson quit as Robin while still a young man and became Nightwing - but hey, it’s not like any previous Batman movie has given a shit about continuity.
One thing I did enjoy, and really want to see in real movies, was all the other heroes making appearances in the same movie. If there’s one thing I’d like to see in the wake of all the big-time Marvel movies it’s some DC lovin’. Justice League, the Movie? Anyone?

Y’know what’s sad is that movie actually looked good… better than all the other Batman movies as of late. Near the end, I thought it got a little silly with the extra super heroes but still, makes me wish this was a real movie instead of me rolling my eyes and/or laughing at the the geekiness.

Okay, watch the making of…. The guy is truely nuts. The stuff they did and the money spent etc. Wow. I mean really, this guy is dedicated like you can’t believe. The guy deserves any success he gets because of this.
My God! Why haven’t they made a Justice League movie! This is an outrage! My favorite crew of villain fighters too. I just never thought of them going into the movie business. That would be total pwn too.
