I’m curious what everyone thinks of this recent letter from Congressman John Conyers, Jr. to Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell.

There are some serious issues raised here… Voter supression, more votes than voters, strange increases in third party voting, computer errors, et al.

Pretty fishy stuff. < Insert appropriate conspiracy theory here >

I honestly don’t know what to say. One thing in partcilar the document pointed out was, indeed, the lack of electronic voting machines in primarily Democratic precincts. I don’t believe there was one electronic voting machine in the state of Pennsylvania. Albeit, in my voting district there were hardly what I’d call long lines, but it’s more understandable there would be in major cities.

Many of the Republican candidates up for election here received overwhelmingly generous amounts of funding for their campaign, almost 4 times more than the Democratic candidates. I noticed the (almost) complete lack of signs both for candidates and encouraging to vote Democratic, but saw a vast majority of Republican ones everywhere within 10 miles. I had twice as many “vote Bush/Republican” messages left on my answering machine nearly every evening coming home during the last month before the election.

I’m not 100% convinced that something was just out right wrong, but at times it sure did seem like it. Undercover/under the table sort of thing…
